Hey everyone, it’s Joe again.

It’s almost been a week since I started here at Yadoya Guesthouse and so far its been a lot of fun! On Wednesday this week I was taught how to check in guests and had my first check in with a guest from Sweden! I’ve met a lot of interesting people from lots of interesting places so far and I’m looking forwards to meeting more people from around the globe during the rest of my stay!
This isn’t my first time to visit Tokyo and I’ve done a lot of sightseeing before but there are lots of festivals that I haven’t had the chance to see yet. This Thursday I went with my girlfriend to see the Tanabata festival that was mentioned before on this blog. I went to Zojoji temple which turned out to be right next to the Tokyo Tower.
The festival was really interesting and began with the monks performing a prayer.
After the prayer there was some live music and everyone sat around eating good festival food, drinking and writing their wishes on paper and attaching them to the bamboo.
While this was going on I had a wander around the temple and saw some ojizousan that were very colourfully decorated.
It was quite a breezy day and the little pin-wheels attached to the statues were always spinning, it was really nice.

If anyone has the chance I would recommend going to a Japanese festival, it’s a really good experience and if you ask around I’m sure you will be able to find one going on most weeks throughout the year!
