Hi there,
Recently I went to mount Ooyama in Kanagawa prefecture, it is about 2 hours drive south west from Tokyo.
At the base, there are many restaurants, shops and even ryokan (traditional inns). You can hike the whole way up or take a gondola to half of the height.
On the second level, you can visit a temple that has many buildings.
You can also see a nice view from this level of the mount.
I hiked the second half, some part are gorgeous, like this little trail through the forest.
After a good hour of hiking, we reached the top, there were some shops but they were closed. Luckily, we had our bento (lunchbox). It is a bit cold on the summit, you can see some trace of snow of the ground, but the view is nice.
